Susan is a native of Baltimore, Maryland where she attended the Maryland Institute College of Art. After attending Maryland Institute, she was nominated for and received an honorable mention in competition for the prestigious Rome Prize. After completing several public commissions, Susan moved to Italy to study with Master Sculptor, Alberto Sparapani, an internationally recognized artist.

After a long and successful association with Sparapani, Susan went on to create many noteworthy pieces, including a work required by His Royal Highness Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales, and Princess Diana, making Susan became the youngest American artist represented in the Royal Collection of Great Britain.

"Babe's Dream", Susan's most recent creation, grace's baseball crown jewel, Oriole Park at Camden Yards, where Susan and Ruth family members unveiled the monument to Baltimore's most famous citizen on May 16, 1995. The romantic sculpture depicts an 18-year old Ruth, clad in his first professional baseball uniform, that of the Baltimore Orioles International League. The sculpture takes its place among Susan's monumental works, standing at the Plaza Entrance to oriole Park at Camdem Yards.
